Eclipse Food for Thought

Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul.

Thought provoking, indeed.


Eclipses in ancient poetry

Solar eclipses didn’t just strike fear in people. They actually inspired some. Here’s a quote from Archilochus, a Greek poet who lived circa 680 BC – 645 BC.

“Nothing there is beyond hope, nothing that can be sworn impossible, nothing wonderful, since Zeus, father of the Olympians, made night from mid-day, hiding the light of the shining Sun, and sore fear came upon men.”
